It’s that time of year. The hankies are out.
If like me you suffer from hay fever you should be pleased to know that you don’t have to reach for the pharmacy anti histamines.
This porridge can help your symptoms and in some will relieve completely! This porridge will not only hopefully help your hay fever but help keep you full, beat any belly bloating, and help reduce cholesterol levels.
- 50g Porridge Oats
- 350ml Water or Milk if you prefer for added protein, or a mixture of the two.
- Local Honey
- 1 Orange
- 1 teaspoon of Linseeds
- 1 teaspoon of Bee Pollen
- 1 grated Apple
Please always use organic if possible.
Put the oats in a saucepan, pour in the water or milk. Bring to the boil and simmer for 4-5 minutes, stirring from time to time and watching carefully that it doesn’t stick to the bottom of the pan.
I then add a big teaspoon of local honey. It should be honey from within a 3 mile radius of your home, or where you spend the majority of your time.
I add a teaspoon of bee pollen. This can purchased at good health stores or online. This has a zingy flavour which is masked by the fruits.
I also had grated apple (I will add my apples for breakfast blog asap), a great source of pectin to help wake you up and keep you full. One orange, for some added sweetness, fibre and vitamin C.
